ATELIER

AdEPorto integrates the European project ATELIER through direct support to the Municipality of Matosinhos. Financed by the Horizon2020 programme, ATELIER falls under the scope of smart cities and aims to develop urban areas with a surplus energy balance (PED – Positive Energy Districts).
The municipality of Matosinhos is part of the consortium of 30 entities which includes 8 European cities that will implement PED solutions. In addition to Matosinhos, the other cities are Amsterdam, Bilbao, Bratislava, Budapest, Copenhagen, Krakow and Riga.
An energy plan will be developed for the municipality of Matosinhos, through ATELIER, and will apply several smart urban solutions, which notably include a demonstration housing complex in Matosinhos.

The ATELIER project is based on three fundamental principles:
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions;
  • Sustainable, safe and accessible energy systems for the population;
  • Collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The project will run until October 2024.
