The characterization of energy and endogenous energy use within the AMP-ND and in each Municipality provides up-to-date knowledge of the situation according to a uniform methodology.
As new annual consumption figures are officially made available, it is possible to continuously monitor the energy and carbon dynamics of the Municipalities through the Energy and Emissions Report, which is an essential source of information.
This document (which model has been improvement) makes it possible to monitor the evolution of energy use in the territory, as well as the associated environmental impacts through GHG emissions. The inventory of GHG emissions (the quantification of emissions and achieved reductions) is an instrument that allows compliance with national and international targets and commitments to be monitored and checked while supporting urban management and policy decisions.
The Energy and Emissions Report is a fundamental document to subscribe initiatives such as the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (CDP) which use this type of information.
AdEPorto published this type of report for the first time presenting 2009 data, with a detailed study and characterization of Final Energy use and the resulting GHG Emissions. This was followed by a publication presenting 2015 data, after which AdEPorto started a yearly publication up to the most recent information (2018 data).
The "Energy and Emissions Platform" found on this page only contains officially and publicly data disclosed through initiatives including municipalities within the scope of AdEPorto. However, is missing data from 2010 to 2014. Thus, for better understanding of the evolution of Final Energy use since 2009, the Figure below presents information directly obtained from data published at dgeg.gov.pt (which has not been processed by AdEPorto’s calculation tools).
