European City Facility: applications open until May 31st

2021-03-29

Facilitate investment in projects related to energy efficiency and renewable energies. This is the main objective of the European City Facility (EUCF) initiative, which opens the second application period between March 29th and May 31st of the current year and covers other countries, such as Greece, Italy, Spain, Malta or Cyprus.

Municipalities/local authorities can apply for this project individually or grouped - in the latter case with the indication of an autarchy as the leader of the application -, and the Leading Municipality - or the grouping - must have an Action Plan for Sustainable Energy and Climate (APSE) or equivalent, formally approved by local authorities. Previously approved plans with targets for 2020 are also accepted. Among the eligibility criteria are also the political commitment to the project, which must be properly demonstrated, and a two-year monitoring commitment.

Promoted by OesteSustentável - Western Regional Energy Agency - and by the Association of Energy and Environment Agencies (National Network) - RNAE, the EUCF emerges as an agile and simplified instrument to support the financial, technical and administrative consultancy to be granted to about 200 candidate entities. The support costs associated with the consultancy may reach a maximum of 60 thousand euros.
