Rehabilitate and make buildings more energy efficient. This is the goal of the new government support programme: "Edifícios Mais Sustentáveis" [More Sustainable Buildings]. The initiative is endowed with 4.5 million euros until 2021 and is aimed at citizens who own units and residential buildings by the end of 2006. Applications can be made until 31 December, 2021.

With this programme, among other objectives, the intent is to reduce the country's energy bill and energy dependence and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The incentive is also seen as an important measure to enhance economic recovery during the post-COVID19 period.
